Kentucky selects Career Cruising to develop online ILP

We are extremely excited to announce that Career Cruising has been chosen to build the online Individual Learning Plan (ILP) component for Kentucky.

In order to graduate, Kentucky students must complete an individual graduation plan (IGP) which incorporates an emphasis on career development. The plan is central to the state’s initiative to ensure that every student is provided with a rigorous and relevant education that prepares him/her for high school graduation and a successful transition to further learning and work. The plan that students use today is a paper folder and information is entered by hand. The fact that the IGP is a paper folder means that it is not easily accessible by parents or students or even school personnel. As well, much of the data required is redundant to data captured in the statewide student data management system. The web-enabled plan will provide 24x7 access and make it easier for teachers, parents and other learning partners to collaborate around the needs of individual students.

To address these and other issues, the Kentucky Department of Education issued an RFP soliciting bids for the development of an electronic version of the IGP to be called the ILP (Individual Learning Plan). The ILP is positioned to replace the paper-based plan once fully implemented.

The ILP contract was awarded to Career Cruising after an extensive evaluation of products from a field of seven responders to the RFP. The review team was made up of school district staff as well as staff from the Kentucky Department of Education (Division of Secondary and Virtual Learning, Office of Teaching and Learning, and the Office of Education Technology). Career Cruising was found to best meet the combined technical, administrative, financial and end-user requirements outlined by the RFP.
