Career Cruising partners with University of Waterloo to develop job search skills resource

Career Cruising has partnered with uWaterloo’s Centre for Career Action, a recognized leader in university career education, to develop a resource to help job seekers of all ages hone their work search skills.

The new Employment Guide provides job seekers with valuable advice for all stages of their work search. From developing a job search plan, to writing a resume and cover letter, to preparing for an interview, through to the first day on the job, the Employment Guide provides guidance at each step along the way.

“We’re excited to launch this in-depth new resource for people looking to learn effective job search techniques,” Matt McQuillen, Career Cruising’s president and co-founder. “The University of Waterloo team brings a tremendous amount of expertise to the project, and has helped us incorporate the most up-to-date practices in this ever-changing arena.”

The Employment Guide includes many elements from uWaterloo’s Career Development eManual.

“We’re pleased to partner with Career Cruising. At uWaterloo, we encourage a proactive approach to career development.” Kerry Mahoney, Director, Centre for Career Action, University of Waterloo.

Career Cruising has also launched a Job Search Tool, helping users put their new skills into practice and make the connection between career planning and the job hunt. Search results are fed from Indeed.com, a preeminent job search aggregator. Each time Career Cruising users search for a job, Indeed.com canvasses thousands of leading job sites, job boards, and company recruitment sites to return the best selection of relevant postings, locally or from across North America.

These new resources complement Career Cruising’s existing career portfolio and Resume Builder tools, which help users organize and focus their career plans, and prepare professional-looking resumes.

The Employment Guide and Job Search Tool are a part of the new Employment section in Career Cruising’s base system, and are available to all clients at no additional cost. For information on activating the Employment section for your site, please contact your client account manager.
