Drama ADA1O1
Looking for a course that encourages your creativity? That doesn't require you to sit at a desk all day? That provides you with many skills that you can use throughout all of high school? Then take GRADE 9 DRAMA!!!
This introductory Drama course is a great starting point for any student who wants to use his or her imagination, meet new friends, and for the student who wants to gain greater confidence and self-awareness. Students will be able to experience the elements of theatre in a fun and exciting way, while working in a safe and non-threatening environment. Topics include improvisation, tableau, movement, script-writing and scene studies. Students are also provided numerous opportunities to participate in field trips and other extra-curricular activities during the course of the semester.

This course provides opportunities for students to explore dramatic forms, conventions, and techniques. Students will explore a variety of dramatic sources from various cultures and representing a range of genres. Students will use the elements of drama in creating and communicating through dramatic works. Students will assume responsibility for decisions made in the creative and collaborative processes and will reflect on their experiences. A great course for students who didn't take grade 9 drama or who would like to build on their performance skills. Emphasis is in on developing works that are based on the ideas of the class.

This course requires students to create and perform in dramatic presentations. Students will analyse, interpret, and perform dramatic works from various cultures and time periods. Students will research various acting styles and conventions that could be used in their presentations, and analyse the functions of playwrights, directors, actors, designers, technicians, and audiences. We often take 1 or 2 field trips in the semester.
