Home Build Program


The Community Home Build Program is a partnership between a prominant home builder in the Waterloo Region and the Waterloo Catholic District School Board. This program provides students with the opportunity to experience most trades within the construction sector.

Grade 10 or Grade 11 students who have completed a construction technology course and who would like an opportunity to build a structure from foundation to completion may apply.

  • Students apply through the Co-op application process.
  • First time students in this program will be involved in many aspects of building a house.
  • Second time students may specialize in a specific building trade area they wish to pursue.(Based on availability)

Home Build Program for Grade 11 TCJ3EX
Community Home Build students, as part of a supervised construction crew, build a house from the foundation up. They will gain experience in residential construction (e.g., framing, wiring, plumbing, insulating, dry walling and trimming). Students are on-site for 3 periods of the school day during semester two earning one Grade 11 Construction Technology credit and two Co-op credits. Students must be 16 years of age by the start of the program, to participate in the Community Home Build Program.

CREDIT EQUIVALENTS: TCJ3EI - Construction Technology is a similar course and you will not receive credit for taking both.
Homebuild Program for Grade 12 TCJ4EX
Community Home Build students, as part of a supervised construction crew, build a house from the foundation up. Students are on-site for 3 periods of the school day, for a full semester, earning one Grade 12 Construction Technology credit and two Co-op credits.
