ADVANCED PLACEMENT STUDIO ART 2D DESIGN A APST2A
This course is designed for students who are seriously interested in the practical experience of art. The program consists of the AP Studio Art 2-D Design Portfolio and corresponds to the most common college foundation course. All students must be willing to accept the challenge of a rigorous academic curriculum. AP Studio art is for highly motivated students who are seriously interested in the study of art, as the program demands significant commitment. Students will need to work outside the classroom, as well as in it, and beyond scheduled periods. Specific art materials are required for this class. Portfolio submission for the Advanced Placement exam is required.

Art 2 students should exhibit a love of art and a desire to work to continue their artistic growth. Students continue to develop skills learned earlier as well as work in a variety of media. Emphasis is placed on painting and drawing skills, composition, and self-discipline. Students explore media including charcoal, prisma, silk screen, and clay. Weekly journal drawings provide skill building and creativity opportunities. Specific art materials are required for this class.
