This course addresses knowledge and skills related to child growth and development from prenatal through school-age children. Students will become equipped with child development knowledge that can be used to promote the well-being and healthy development of children and to investigate careers related to the care and education of children.

COSMETOLOGY 1A COSM1A
This laboratory-based course provides job-specific training for employment in cosmetology careers. Instruction includes sterilization and sanitation procedures, hair care, nail care, and skin care and meets the Texas Department of licensing and Regulation requirements for licensure upon passing the state examination. Analysis of career opportunities, requirements, expectations, and development of workplace skills are included. Students must purchase their own kit and book package for class and lab use (approx. $350). Student must purchase a TDLR permit ($25).

Students explore the various mental illnesses and disorders, treatment options, and coping skills to deal with stress and crisis.
