Jean Vanier Catholic High School is a Catholic community school committed to academic excellence.  Students will be supported in their pursuit of spiritual, intellectual, physical and social growth through diverse learning experiences.  Our graduates will attain the essential academic skills, information technology skills, and spiritual characteristics to become lifelong learners and positive contributors to Church and society.

Jean Vanier Catholic High School opened its doors to students and the community September, 2009.  We currently serve students in grades 9 through 12.

Our philosophy is garnered from our namesake, Mr. Jean Vanier.  He espouses high moral values with a deep commitment to our Catholic teachings.  In addition, Mr. Vanier indicates that we can only be truly human when we celebrate the differences of others.

At Jean Vanier Catholic High School student will receive a high quality educational experience based on the teachings of Jesus Christ and become committed to improving our global community.  As a school community, we recognize the importance of the commitment to increase the social responsibility and environmental aspects of our larger community and offer this as an important aspect of our curriculum.

We are inspired by the works and writings of Mr. Vanier and will endeavour to impart these on the students of Jean Vanier Catholic High School.

The York Catholic District School Board’s Technology Plan identifies Jean Vanier Catholic High School as an eLEARNING school and offering a Specialist High Skills Major in Health and Wellness with concentration in the medical field.  Accordingly, information technology will be used in the school curriculum to support and enhance learning, and better prepare our students for the future.  Current studies have demonstrated that improved learning is achieved when the technology is accessible, flexible, responsive, and integrated thoroughly into all school programs.
