Teaching Careers in Education 1-1 Hour (Athens) Semester 1 17393
Teaching Careers in Education 1 involves training for entry-level positions in child care services with emphasis on preschool years (ages 3 to 5 years old). Students serve as teachers for the Troy-Athens Laboratory Nursery School. Students will study nursery school curriculum, positive discipline, growth and development; and will be expected to plan for, work with, and evaluate their participation in the nursery program. A great experience if you are planning to become an elementary school teacher. The Troy-Athens Laboratory Nursery is state licensed and open to Troy School District residents. All students are required to have an updated physical and TB test. Advanced placement credit is offered at Oakland Community College, Baker College, and Macomb Community College upon completion of this class.

Students serve as teachers in the Toddler Nursery School. Students will study toddler curriculum, positive discipline, growth and development; and will be expected to plan for, work with, and evaluate their participation in the toddler program. They will do an internship assignment at a local day care or elementary school. Advanced placement credit is offered at Oakland Community College, Baker College, and Macomb Community College upon completion of this class.
