Welding Technology I IM612X0
Geometry is recommended as preparation for this course.
This course covers basic industrial and construction welding practices, occupation characteristics, and employment opportunities. Topics include safety, thermal cutting processes, base metal preparation and shielded metal arc welding (SMAW). Arts, English language arts, mathematics, and science are reinforced. Work-based learning strategies appropriate for this course include apprenticeship, cooperative education, entrepreneurship, internship, and job shadowing.

Welding Technology II IM622X0
Geometry is recommended as preparation for this course.
This course introduces advanced welding and cutting practices used in industry and construction and emphasizes hands-on experience. Topics include weld fit-up and testing, and Advanced shielded metal (SMAW) arc welding. Arts, English language arts, mathematics, and science are reinforced. AWS SENSE certification is available for successful completion.

This course introduces metal arc welding and flux core arc welding processes. Topics include equipment setup and fillet and groove welds with emphasis on application of GMAW and FCAW electrodes on carbon steel plate. Upon completion, students should be able to perform groove and fillet welds on carbon steel with prescribed electrodes in the flat, horizontal, and overhead positions.

This course introduces the gas tungsten arc (TIG) welding process. Topics include equipment set up and application of GTAW on carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum plate. Upon completion students should be able to perform multiple pass welds on various metals.
